Alecta is the largest administrator of supplementary pensions in Scandinavia, and as such processes some SEK 480 billion on behalf of the Swedish people. Creuna created Alecta's new website which makes the administration of supplementary pensions simpler and easier to understand.
About Alecta
Alecta, as Scandinavia's largest administrator of supplementary pensions with 1.8 million private customers and 30 000 customer companies on its books, administrates a total of about SEK 480 billion. It is a mutual life insurance company. This means that Alecta is owned by its customers, which are the policy holders (the companies) and the people who are insured (company employees). Alecta stands alongside its customers with the single purpose of providing security throughout and after employment. It does this through achieving greater yield than the sector at large and through low overhead costs.
Creuna has worked with Alecta since 2009.
The challenge
Over recent years the supplementary pensions market has changed radically. This has entailed increased choice but also further complication for the consumer. Many customers find the world of pensions complicated and have difficulty finding relevant information. Consequently, Alecta has found it exceptionally interesting and challenging to develop a supplementary pensions web service that is as user friendly as possible for its customers.
Alecta commissioned Creuna to create a site that is easy to grasp and equally easy to navigate while providing all the necessary information and services. The website is intended as one of Alecta's primary channels for marketing and self-service and contains social functions and other interactive features.
The solution
Creuna has formed the concept and design, and also implemented the new alecta.se. The concept puts the user in the forefront and is based on three user experiences - security, control and efficiency.
Security: Alecta's customers have an extremely good pension solution. As a customer you need not be an expert in the field of supplementary pensions (if you so choose). It is Alecta's role to provide the expertise, which it conveys through this website.
Control: For customers who wish to become involved, Alecta shall provide them with basic control and support. Efficiency: Self-service provides the customer with greater freedom while reducing Alecta's costs.
The design and functionality of the website are based on three user experiences.
A unique function that is worth mentioning is that Alecta provides each individual customer with personal information. Through a unique new service - where the customer only needs to enter his/her personal identity number - Alecta compiles and provides the information relevant to just that person, without them needing to log in. The customer obtains the information on his/her current pension solution, information on any previous solutions as well as relevant tips and advice on the basis of their age. No questions, no logging in, just enter your identity number to check on your current situation.
There are also several other functions to provide all the information necessary.
Technical solution
The site is built in EPiServer CMS 5 R2. Alecta.se has a number of integrations with Alecta's various insurance systems to enable easy access to information and to simplify life for the customer. An advanced SiteSeeker search function has been included. The tool AddThis is used to easily separate content from the website.
The results
Alecta has received a lot of acclaim from its customers and working partners for the new site and its functionality. The new alecta.se has also drawn attention outside the world of pensions – Internetworld magazine listed it as the 85th best site in all categories. This is a distinction that only incites both Alecta and Creuna to continue development of the concept and the services together.
